The Rancho Buena Vista Adobe is one of California's last remaining land ranchos. The property was initially granted to Felipe Subria, a Luiseno native american Mission San Luis Rey convert, by Mexico's governor Pio Pico in 1845. Since that time, many owners, including early California pioneers have called the adobe home. The City of Vista purchased the property in 1989 and today, it serves as an ideal backdrop for weddings and "Adobe Days" school programs. Since 2011, the San Diego Paranormal Research Society has been hosting the "Spirits of the Adobe" ghost tours at Vista, California's beautiful Rancho Buena Vista Adobe. The tours take guests through each room of the site while highlighting its historical tapestry and ghostly phenomena.
Vista’s historic Rancho Buena Vista Adobe has been inhabited by numerous residents since it was built in the mid-1800s. Some say those early residents have never left. SDPRS team members offer the unique experience of joining them in actual paranormal investigations at the Adobe. These interactive ghostly journeys include a walking tour of the adobe that includes the history of the historic site and the paranormal happenings that occur there. The SDPRS will focus on its paranormal investigation techniques offering tour guests the opportunity to participate in a live EVP session, dowsing rod session and an ITC session via the spirit box.
Spirits of the Adobe will be offered on the third Friday of each month. The two-hour tours begin at 7 pm and again at 9:30 pm. Each session is limited to 10 people. Parental written permission is required for children under the age of 18-years-old. Tickets are $25 per person and registration is required at vistarecreation.com (click on Rancho Buena Vista Adobe, then on "Spirits of the Adobe") or by calling 760.643.5275. The Rancho Buena Vista Adobe is located at 640 Alta Vista Drive, Vista. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe.
